Garment Handling

Process Quality

ARAMARK understands how cleanroom garments should be handled and maintained. Industry best practices are part of our everyday standard operating procedures.

Garments Processed in a Minimum ISO Class 5 Cleanroom
All ARAMARK cleanroom facilities are dedicated to cleanroom laundry.  We do not mix industrial laundry in our cleanroom process.  Once garments are washed they enter the cleanroom environment, and garments are processed in a minimum of an ISO class 5 cleanroom to produce a Class A (according to ASTM standard) garment for use in Class 3, 4, or 5 cleanrooms.

Barcode Scanning of Each Garment
Each and every garment at ARAMARK is barcoded.  All garments are scanned when they are received (excluding contaminated items) to provide traceability on what the customer has returned for processing.  ALL garments are scanned out of our plant for return to the customer.  If a garment is sent for repair or stain treatment, the garment is scanned to that destination allowing for 100% traceability on all barcodes.  Barcode scanning allows for a variety of reports to be created by service and to track the number of processings on an individual garment.  Most importantly, barcode scanning helps remove a garment from service before it no longer acts as an effective barrier to contamination.

Garments Graded in Accordance with IEST Standards
ARAMARK inspects garments as they are being processed.  If any nonconformity (stains, holes, fraying) compromises the integrity of the barrier, the garment is pulled from service and sent for appropriate rework.

Garments Packaged in Certified Cleanroom Bags
ARAMARK packages all garments in certified cleanroom bags that meet Class 50A surface cleanliness standards as defined by KSC-C-123H.

Operator Training Program
ARAMARK trains each and every operator.  Operators are completely trained in all aspects of their job functions.

Sterility Program in Accordance with ANSI/AAMI/ISO 11137 Guidelines
ARAMARK routinely monitors the microbiological quality of the garments and performs sublethal dose qualification to verify that irradiated garments are at the desired Sterility Assurance Level.

Puncture Resistant Shipping Containers
All cleanroom deliveries are shipped in puncture resistant containers to protect the integrity of the individual garment packages.

Lot Traceability
ARAMARK has complete traceability of each and every lot that is processed, including receipt, washing, drying, folding, packing, sterilization, and shipping.

Dedicated Cleanroom Route Service
ARAMARK understands the special needs of our cleanroom customers and provides dedicated route service to more than 90% of our customers.  Each route representative is trained in ARAMARK's policies and procedures and understands the critical nature of the product being delivered.
