Wash Process Technology

ARAMARK Cleanroom Services' wash process applies state-of-the-art technology and
rigorous performance monitoring to protect garment integrity while producing a
Class A garment.
ARAMARK ensures wash process quality by utilizing:
- Validated wash process
- Microprocessor controlled washers and dryers
- Deionized (DI) water in every wash formula
- Specially formulated cleanroom wash chemicals
- HEPA/ULPA filtered dryers
- QA monitoring of wash process
Validated Wash Process
ARAMARK's wash process has been validated at each processing site to produce
garments with a consistent level of quality after every wash load. A QA
Manager routinely monitors the wash process to verify that we operate
within the validated parameters.
Processed garments are routinely monitored for:
- Nonviable particulates -
This testing is performed in accordance with ASTM F-51 2000 (2007). The test involves vacuuming nonviable surface particulates onto a filter. The particulates are quantified by a trained QA technician through microscopic examination. The technician counts particles > 5 µm and provides a distinct fiber count.
- ARAMARK can also perform Helmke drum testing in accordance with IEST RP-CC003.3. This test counts smaller submicron particles and does not quantify fibers.
- pH level
- ESD performance
- Surface resistivity - Measures the electrical resistance of a 6
sq. in. swatch of fabric (<1012 ohms)
- Bioburden level - Used to assess the microbiological quality of the processed garment to support sterility.
- Ionic Residuals - Determines the water-extractable ionic residuals remaining on cleanroom garments after processing. Trace quantities of specific ions can damage or totally destroy semiconductor and optical devices during fabrication.
